I doubt this will be of interest to many of you but earlier today at the 52nd Canoeing Ireland ADM I was elected to the board to hold the position of Leinster Rep. It would be difficult to summaries the ADM in a positive light but I think that its fair to say the current situation is tempestuous at best. Some of the goings on today do not reflect well on Canoeing Ireland and are not representative of a lot of the amazing work that is being done by individuals and clubs at grass roots level. My new role is yet to be fully defined and certainly dont have all of the answers or solutions to the current situation. What I can say is that Ill do my best to represent those in the Leinster region, and do the right thing. I didnt have a manifesto prior to the ADM but my early goals are to try bring some more transparency to how things are run at board level. In addition to that I would like to help steer Canoeing Ireland into being more retentive to its current and prospective members. Id like to thank the out going board and look forward to working with the new incoming board members. Now the work starts. (As a side there were many justified tributes to Kris Kohls and the exceptional work she did during her time in the Canoeing Ireland office. She will be a huge loss. )
