I dreamt about a lion family. Cougars. The male was dark brown, not light brown, owing to having its winter coat. His tail was quite long. Their cub was good-sized, as big as a medium-sized dog. It kept charging up onto my porch (this was a good sign that I owned a house) and going after my cat. I would chase it off my porch, sheepishly, as I was concerned that its parents might get upset with me. And then what? Finally, after their cub had jumped up onto my front porch and gone after my poor cat for about the third time, I took a large metal dust pan sitting in a corner on my porch, and used that to violently sweep the cub off my porch. He flew through the air and landed with a soft thud on the sidewalk. He dusted himself off and seemed okay. Suddenly, the daddy cougar ran up onto my porch. Wow. Up close he was very big, nearly two hundred pounds I would imagine. He had a large face. His eyes burned. Fierceness was now defined in the look on his face. There was no way I could defend myself against him. If he chose to attack, I was done for. So, I sat down on my porch in a sign of submission and looked up at him. I was now shorter than how high he stood. He began talking to me. “I am not angry. He probably deserved it. Your pet is like your child. You were only protecting your young as I would do. I admire that and your courage. He actually could use some more discipline than what you gave him. I have tried to teach him not to attack peoples pets. He is still learning. “I will go now. Remember: sometimes a fierce look is whats needed to get someone to listen and take you seriously. Thats all. Not a sign someone is going to attack. I never intended to attack you.” He didn’t actually talk, but rather I heard him speaking to me telepathically. I wanted to reach out and touch his wildness. “Do not touch me,” I heard him say as he turned and jumped off the steps with effortless power and grace. I woke up.
