I drove nearly three hours each way to attend my dear friends FX Tobins at Saint Josephs Mausoleum memorial service in Pittsfield, Massachusetts and had a chance to see so many old friends and acquaintances, people i have known since high school or earlier. Sad circumstances but bracing common feelings and remembrances. It was wonderful to have some people mention how much FX thought of me, and how he insisted some people meet me and get to now me. It is humbling to understand how much someone else you loved loved you right back. I think we somehow understood without ever saying so how much we loved each others. Guys never mention this stuff, of course, at least not men of my generation.
