I emailed the person I am speaking with from the Coast Guard and just wanted to share all of this email, usually I will take the key parts out of it..but I also want to let you all know how hard they are working and how tough this has been on all of them along with us and that they are doing the best they can. So say some prayers and send some good thoughts to them because they are having a rough time out on Superior! USCG update April 1, 2014 Well take whatever help the good Lord will give us. Prayers are also welcome :) Very little progress made, the convoy moved a total of 12 miles yesterday. Thankfully, help is on the way. The Canadian Coast Guard Ship PIERRE RADISSON will head north from Sarnia, ONT tomorrow. Well bring them up to help MACKINAW. A tanker and perhaps the ROGER BLOUGH will come up with them. The tanker has to go to SSM, ONT and the BLOUGH to the Carbide Dock to take on Fuel. This activity will most assuredly collapse the ice bridge. If I were to fathom a guess, Wednesday will be the last day of regular ferry service. Interruptions will begin when we move the ice breaker and tanker up. Weve told EUPTA this and I would encourage you to spread the word. Well have the two BAY class tugs working behind the RADISSON, but with cold temperatures and snow returning to the area this weekend, itll be several days before we can get the ferry running on any sort of a schedule. ****PLEASE share this with all your friends, neighbors and family on the Island. And be prepared.
