I encountered the scariest moment today that I have experienced in my 10 years of real estate. I received a referral of another agent in South Carolina of homeowners in Goffstown looking to meet with a Realtor to market and sell their home. So I went out there this afternoon to meet the homeowners. First sign I knew something was weird was it looked abandoned and I thought to myself does someone really live here?, so I called the owner and he told me to park out front and he would meet me at the front door. There wasnt a real driveway because the grass had grown in, so I parked on the grass. He came out to meet me and when I asked where his wife was, he told me that he went to pick up their daughter and that she was on her way to meet us. I decided to wait until she arrived. When she did, we all went inside. The smell was horrible and there was stuff everywhere. As we toured the home, I dodged the furniture, boxes and poop of all the rabbits, lizards, rats, and turtles roaming the house. At this point, the owner asked me to check out the basement. My gut feeling was not to allow this to happen so I didnt go there. The only thoughts I had at this point was what if they kidnapped me? At least Delaney knew where I was and I did have my phone with me if I needed it. Along this entire time, I took photos because, I didnt think anyone would believe me, including the Goffstown Police, whom I have reported them to. How could this family live like this? They have an 8 year old daughter, who I wanted to take with me. I am writing this because it was an eye opener to me in many ways, including that we do not know what type of homes or people that we are going to meet at our appointments. Be careful and safe out there.
