I ended up watching my local football team (kitengela sportiff) playing at home yesterday while followed the Gor Mahia game . I must say that I love the spirit of Gor Mahia accompanied by the passion of the fans. However for whatever reason I must condemn all acts of violence during and after the match by some rowdy fans. I hope the cctv cameras in the stadium will be helpful in weeding out those who engaged in barbaric acts. For local football to grow in Kenya the fans embrace humility, fair play and be rational in our expressions of disappointments. Many at times we the fans let down the team. It would be difficult to attract sponsorship for the team with such kind of negative publicity. All is not lost and as champions the trophy is still within reach. As for the good Governor Mutua, your decision to ban all other Gor Mahia matches in Machakos is inconsequential and a loss of revenue for you. It would be more prudent to invite the management of Gor Mahia to review the matter before taking such drastic measures.
