I enjoy listening to the State of the Union (which, for me, has never been the same since Tim Russert passed). Through both Democrats and Republicans, I have embraced this event It is important to listen with a learning spirit and an open mind. It is also important that we communicate to our children who our representatives are! So often, we focus on the highest office, but, in my opinion, we must introduce to our children to local and state representatives. We bellyache at the big picture, but if we learn to become ingrained & educated in local issues, the big picture may take care of itself!
