I enjoy perusing Kickstarter from time to time and discovering the new things that people are inventing, and what people are willing to help fund. While looking through today, I stumbled upon a Kickstarter campaign to bring Reading Rainbow back into homes and schools across the nation. For those of you who were, or raised, a child in the last 30 years (ending in 2009), you most definitely have seen this fantastic childrens program. Many of you most likely know the theme song by heart (its stuck in my head now). The majority of you will remember its host, LaVar Burton and his phenomenal performance in this show, and in Star Trek. I think that the lack and even hatred of reading is becoming all the more prevalent in our country and other parts of the world, and I believe quite strongly that this television show brought the love of reading and learning to many a childs heart. It sure did mine. I was very pleased to see that they have reached their goal, and that my child will be able to see this wonderful program and learn from it. Reading Rainbow will very soon be back and on the web, as well as an entire educational program based on RR free-to-access for 1,500 schools. Their next goal on Kickstarter is $5,000,000. This will bring the number of schools who will have this great opportunity at no charge to 7,500, and will also allow RR to create applications for mobile and Android devices to add to their already successful iOS app. I cant describe how very happy I am to see this priceless recourse restored. You know, I may just watch it myself! This will definitely increase the percentage of literate young people in the future, but dont take my word for it (this last sentence is redudant but added just so I could use that phrase). Follow the link and pledge some money to the cause! #LeVarBurton #ReadingRainbow #learning #education
