I enjoy talking with readers, especially perceptive ones, whove read my stuff. This evening, a friend, reading HIGH RAGE was talking about some of the characters. Theyd read to about Chapter 4 and I asked them about Hadrian. Their response was that they felt they hadnt met Hadrian yet. The character had maintained his opacity through at least two chapters. I counted that as a win for both of us -- he had the insight to realize that Hadrian is a very hidden person and Id managed to pull off the trick of having a character with that opacity. There are people who do not let others into their world except on their own terms and in their own time.
