I enjoy the colors of the Holler at sunset. Looks like we will - TopicsExpress

I enjoy the colors of the Holler at sunset. Looks like we will have several opportunities for thunderstorms this week as the atmosphere becomes increasingly unstable and another dryline moves our way. It will be quite volatile on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, so once again, the only thing standing in the way of some real soakers will be the seemingly ever present cap. Some of you have asked why it always seems a strong cap comes back right when we get a storm system moving in to give us some good rain. And the simple answer to that is that most storm systems are typically associated with SOUTHWEST winds aloft. And whenever we have southwest winds aloft, we tend to drag that hot air off the high plateaus of Mexico and SW Texas and bring it directly over our heads here in north Texas. Therefore, right before a storm system moves in, the cap gets pulled in about 12-24 hours in advance. So once again, we will be watching to see just how strong that cap will be. On Tuesday the atmosphere will be very unstable, but I think it is a safe bet that the cap will shut down any storms in our immediate area. But Im not so sure about Wednesday and Thursday.
