I enjoyed this short news documentary about the reactions to The Exorcist. This news item was composed in the early months of the films release. I saw this film in its first run in 1974. Although I was a kid, I can understand these folks reactions to that movie at THAT time. Nothing like this had ever been seen then. Their reactions are genuine, and for that era, understandable. After watching this online I then perused the YouTube comments, fully expecting to see the naysayers, detractors and trolls demeaning the film, its cultural impact and the reactions. There they were. But none of those commenters were there during this era, most werent even born, so they cannot make an intelligent comment about the film during this time and the viewers that saw it in 73/74. If you find it laughable, find it slow, boring or not scary, today, OK, I get you...but dont demean what we went through the first time we saw this film and how and why we found it to be, The scariest film ever made. It was. And for me, still is.
