I experienced a very frightening first late last night as I drove Hildy through the mountains in Nevada. It had been raining & very windy on the flats and when I got higher up in elevation it of course turned to snow...huge flakes driven by strong wind in the pitch black with no ability to see any of my surroundings except straight ahead into the snow blowing directly at my headlights. It was like driving in a sensory deprivation chamber! After about 30 minutes of dealing with this I became terrifyingly disoriented. Initially I felt like the truck was at a complete standstill but my eyes could see, based on the dashboard gauges, that I was moving...very soon after that it began to feel like I was actually sliding backwards! I called out as calmly as I could and woke Roger , telling him I needed his company...he calmly reassured me as I forged ahead through the weather and explained some techniques to prevent this from happening to me ever again! Roger, you are my rock and I appreciate you more than I am capable of adequately expressing!!
