I failed to raise my sons as Yankee fans. You see, we lived in Kansas City from 1985 (a great year to be in Kansas City) to 1991 (think George Brett, Bret Saberhagen, Bo Jackson), and I took them out to the ballpark a lot. We moved on from KC, but all three sons are Royals and Chiefs fans. Tonight, for the first time since 1985, theyll be cheering their team in the post-season. Mike will be at the game. They should not expect another world championship. Other teams come into this season with stronger lineups and rotations, just as the Blue Jays and Cardinals had stronger lineups in 1985. But that team showed that anything is possible if you make it to the post-season. Ill be home cheering for the Royals to give my sons and Kansas Citys lost generation a post-season thrill tonight. And many more to come in October.
