I fear the DC Streetcar effort is doomed. Terry Bellamy and - TopicsExpress

I fear the DC Streetcar effort is doomed. Terry Bellamy and Matthew Brown, Mayor Greys DDOT directors, have both provided markedly poor leadership. The Anacostia Line -- by Council order, the first to be built -- consists of rusting rails in a yard somewhere. There is no line, no intended line, no plan, no nothing. The H Street Line has been delayed for three years, theres still no car barn, theres still no western terminus, and the line cost FIVE TIMES the estimate. It started out soooo well under DDOT director Dan Tangherlini. But then Tangherlini left to run GSA (a federal agency), and DDOTs streetcar initiative collapsed. I doubt incoming mayor Muriel Bowser has the vision or leadership skills to resurrect it. washingtonpost/local/trafficandcommuting/us-effort-to-help-build-homegrown-streetcar-manufacturer-falls-short/2014/11/29/98c649b0-70b9-11e4-ad12-3734c461eab6_story.html
