I feel a need, not sure why to express myself. Before I begin I mean NO ill will towards everyone in the medical field, but rather this is, a generic rant if you will, so here goes; If I tell you during my pre-op visit that my health condition does NOT allow me to refrain from fasting (liquids) and that by doing so places me in a grave, possibly life threatening situation (ventricular tachycardia results), then why would you NOT relay that info to the surgery team so they could get me in BEFORE 9:30 and begin hydrating me intravenously? If I tell you that because of my multiple hospital admissions (23) because of my condition that sadly I now require an anesthesiologist to establish a central line because my veins are shot and instantly collapse (documented), why would you say well let me see what I can do first?, only to have me used as a pin cushion and saying I freakin told you so!. If I tell you that I get lab work done routinely (because of my condition) and that these (pointing to the exact location) are the ONLY sweet spots for drawing blood, with a butterfly, why would you look at me and insert a needle right where I told you NOT too, only to have you say well I thought..... Again, I know I just painted a picture with a large brush, but please know, this took place at ONE facility, during ONE visit. Id be interested in feedback from those in the medical profession, in particular your advice on how to make my point clearer. Thank you in advance.
