I feel bad for locals, who have to work at restaurants on Christmas Eve. This is the most important holiday of the year for Cozumelenos. I find it hard to believe that people expect others to abandon their families plans, because some people just cannot figure this out or are just totally apathetic. People on this Island work 6 and 1/2 days a week. Many, many for 12 hours a day. You would think the circus could close down for one day of the year, without it being a big deal. The same with people who insist on diving on Christmas Day. Others have to give their family day up, involuntarily, just to satisfy people who want to dive, seemingly so they can brag to their friends at home.......On Chirstmas Day, we were 40 feet deep, Of course, there a some who are happy to work these hours and some who dont care one way or the other, but the vast majority totally hate it, as anybody who understands our little island culture can tell you.
