I feel bad for the recent college graduates looking for work as the labor market is pretty brutal right now. Yall have my prayers and sympathy.....Unless that is you purposely picked an easy major and now have no prospects.... that is pretty much your fault, all of it, no one else to blame but you. I mean there was a reason mommy and daddy wanted you to major in the hard sciences. You really thought your Theatre Appreciation degree was gonna get you a job at a hedge fund? While your hard sciences classmates worked their tail off studying, you were too busy chasing tail at the Multi Purpose Center or were too busy skipping classing and ‘living it up’. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Especially if you’r e Asian or Brown. You were told a multitude of times to do pre-med, engineering, computer science, or even accounting/finance yet you wanted to be the sole rebel in your community and take fugazi clases like Cheese Tasting 101, Sufism vs. Buddhism, or History of Hip Hop Zumba. So while some of your friends go on to med school or start their job at Goldman Sachs, you can relive the memories of good old college - more simple and less stressful times --- BUT you shouldnt. Get up off you hiney and enroll in a real concentration - something that has tangible value to employers. It’s not too late! Trust me. Do.It.Now. If you cant afford to enroll in something, get the best job you can get instead of waiting around for the perfect one. I am sorry but Sociology/Psychology type majors from a state university or a Tier 2 school arent really in high demand, so stop being picky and take what you can get. If all else fails, marry someone rich – perhaps that Geeky less than average looking kid who you always ignored at the Dining Hall. Well that Geeky less than average looking kid is now going to Dentistry school and in a few years will be able to pay off your entire student debt in his one years’ worth of income. Don’t be ashamed to be a gold digger – do it. Do it now! Latch on…latch on like a leech baby. I mean the last thing you want is all your friends to move up and on and leave you behind. That WILL happen. No matter how loyal you think your friends are, you will certainly drift apart from your more successful friends. And this isn’t the good type of drift. This is the drift where theyre the Rose and you’re the Jack and they just let you go and even while telling you they love you… and now your alone and sinking in ice cold water.. ..slowly but surely to your social demise. Trust me, if you don’t start closing the gaps between you and your higher up friends now, the gap will continue to widen…. So my advice is get up of your lazy butt and do something, something about it NOW! Think about it….. IF NOT NOW, THEN WHEN? GOOD LUCK!
