I feel guilty - played hooky today. I have been trying to get my BFR up to the prescribed 500, not that I necessarily agree with it. So moved from 300 to 400, without too much trouble, but each time I go above 400 something weird happens, The first time, I looked over, and the arterial read 434! I thought it was wrong, looked again, and still in 400s so I lowered the BFR down to 400. Immediate return to normal range (180)! Today, right after I raised BFR to 430, I looked over at my arm, and my venous actually popped an infiltration, even though my arm was immobile on a splint. I stopped the machine, did a reverse rinseback and took myself off. Good news, I remained calm throughout, bad news, labs are on Monday, good news, immediate ice and arnica took care of swelling and bruising. I doubt Ill get accurate labs since I was only on 1/2 hour. Nurse, of course, is away til Monday so cant ask about extension for labs. I didnt want to run the risk of damaging the venous, by putting another needle in, and couldnt really go higher anyway or Id be in my armpit. Executive decision, not running higher than 400, maybe even 300.
