I feel heartbroken. Our beautiful friend Leah Roberts left us just a few hours ago. My tummy is churning and I have tears, and I just cant get my head around the unfairness and sadness of this massive loss to dogdom. Leah was one of the first wonderful, selfless trainers I came across when I first looked to the internet for info on +R. I got to know her over the last 4 years or more, on different groups and forums with a focus on training force-free and understanding dogs. Really understanding dogs, not listening to the Horrid Little Mexican TV star who she openly hated with a passion, and with good reason. She took me under her wing, somewhat, as she did with no doubt hundreds of other learners, and took a special interest in my LeeJay. Her passion and conviction was amazing. One of her many legacies is that she was a founding member of the international Pet Professional Guild. Another legacy shes left is her website, which is well worth a good old read, if you have a dog! I dont believe in much, but Id like to believe that shes dancing and laughing at the Rainbow Bridge right now, hugging her adored Heart Dog, Madigan, surrounded by the hundreds, maybe thousands, of dogs whos lives she affected profoundly while they were here.
