I feel rather compelled to write something about David Pools passing. Ive been watching the outpouring of love and grief, and I feel the need to help those who are having a rough time of it. Look, guys. Pool won. He won the whole Gorram thing. He won life. This man won by every definition set by any educator and by any person, but more importantly, he won by the standards he set for HIMSELF. Look around. People from several different schools and several different generations speak of his kindness, insight,and guidance. Music aside, he TAUGHT ALL OF US. PERIOD. As a person, POOL DID THINGS, AND DID THE LIVING HELL OUT OF THEM. He taught me, and likely all of you, to set your goals high and do amazing things not because they brought you fame or money, but because they were inherently AWESOME. You and I are all better for having him. This is what he wanted, and this is what you all have. Go find something awesome, even if its a bit silly, and do the living Hell out of it. By God, I have. I am a living legacy to the leader of the band. Now you go be one too...for David Pool.
