I feel really weak.. my pain is a lot less, though.. my ribs are sore and the chest tube incision is super tender... But the lung pain is pretty much gone and Im only short of breath if I try to do too much.. I looked into the mirror today.. this whole process has aged me.. even Patrick said I look different.. gaunt.. Ive lost a lot of tone and fat in my face and Im pale.. in spite of the fluid build up in my belly and hips (swollen from all the IV fluids, per my surgeon) Im 20 pounds lighter than when I entered ICU the first time.. considering I have a caloric intake of about 300-600 per day, and Im still on a full liquid puree diet, Im not surprised.. Im trying to eat protein sparing foods but I feel sick to my stomach when I eat.. I go back in for surgery in about a week, to remove the stent that is covering the perforated ulcer.. I pray my lung is fully opened by then since its full anesthesia and intubation.. I cant wait to get back to exercising and feeling strong.. hope its soon!
