I feel sick to my stomach. I just had an hour long conversation with a man who called about renting my home for a 16 year old girl. Not only is she passing from cancer but he said he found her on the street two years ago and has been collecting her ssi and taking care of her. I told him he did not have enough income for the sixteen year old as I thought it would be a family of two but he told me that it was just for her. I told him its illegal to rent to a sixteen year old with out a parent and he tells me the step dad that abused her as a kid collects her ssi and sends it to him each month. I ended the conversation and hung up the phone but everything in me said this is wrong for someone to take advantage of a child, so I called him back and offered my home just so he will meet me and bring this child to safety. I am amazed everyday with the people I meet and the stories I hear on craigslist but this by far has been the most heart breaking.
