I feel that theres this issue going on in some peoples mindsets that classical or well-known pieces of Literature would always be the safest and easiest way to go when in lterms to teaching and learning them. However, not many people actually see the literary value inside Singaporean literature and simply brush them aside as they are not well-known enough or are harder to teach than traditional and common set texts. Now, Im actually glad to see that more and more students and teachers alike are looking towards and placing increasing emphasis on our countrys own Literary works. Theres just so much which could be gleaned from them and I hope that Singaporean literature would secure an important place in everybodys minds and hearts in the future - as it is only these stories, which can truly reflect our discourse and journey as a nation :)
