I feel the need to speak on the matter that is Ebola. I simply cannot help but laugh at the constant discussion of this disease (even though Im ironically doing exactly that). Its as if society never sees history repeating itself before. Fear sells; it always has and always will. The Red Scare, HIV/AIDS, tragedies: Watch the news for twenty minutes and you cannot disagree that we are surrounded by fear invoking media. Several weeks after a near revolt, a pandemic sweeps the globe, coincidental? The fear is used in a suppressive way, but believe what you may. Soon the media will say every state is infected, soon reports of several deaths will come in, & eventually, real soon, a vaccine will be developed and promoted for pharmaceutical profit. Is it also a coincidence that the pharmaceutical corporations met profit is a trillion dollars shy of last years goals? That deficit needs to be made up somehow. Im not saying turn a blind eye to this, actually, Im doing the contrary. The goal of the media is to get people to spread these ideas and stories as quickly as possible, so as opposed to delving into material people ignorantly (ignorant meaning without understanding) press share buttons and put their input. Next time something of this magnitude seems to come out of nowhere, realize its for a reason. This is nothing new to any culture, however, doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is what Einstein described as insanity. Please dont succumb to the easy technological advances weve made, use them for better.
