I feel the strong need to repeat that REAL division lines in today´s Ukraine (like in most post-USSR countries) are somewhere else than the alleged conflict between Russian- or Ukrainian speakers or East-West regional stand-off. These two division lines have been following: 1) Hopes for European way of live (European dream, European future) vs. homo sovieticus sentiments (Soviet past-oriented nostalgia with guaranteed rights and benefits) and, as a derivation of this: 2) society (civil society ) vs. corrupted post-Soviet system (plutocracy, oligarchic capitalism, red tape, bribes, poverty, lack of meritocracy). However, somebody wants to distract the attention from the real (own) problems and therefore tries to create new, artificial issues by using media and thus channelling the anger and popular attention somewhere else. Nevertheless, since those two real division lines are time-dependent, I am optimistic that the generational change would eventually erase them.
