I felt it was important that we adhere to the GA decision two week ago to not endorse the boycott. The Emergence meeting of Occupy Detroit, reaffirmed its support for the resolution that we remain opposed to boycotting the Nat Gat. I remain secure in my belief that approaching white supremacy from the standpoint of white privilege and repudiation of “white skin privilege” is destructive to the social movement and border on the kind of religious fanaticism associated with doctrines of the repudiation of the flesh and self-flogging. Anyone who feel better flogging themselves should continue to do so by all means, but be understanding when a group of folks reject this method of struggle against injustice. My understanding of white supremacy is rooted in my life experience and the social movement and its intellectual tradition spanning few years. The definitive study on this issue remains Theodore W. Allen’s “The invention of the white race.” I personally suggest a study of the wealth of Marxist writings on this subject including articles from Rally Comrades. I also urge any and every one to contribute their suggested materials and sources. Below is how I describe white supremacy in Marxist Glossary. With the defeat of the South, its conversion into a colony of Wall Street imperialism and the rise of financial industrial capital, American white supremacy gave way to and was sublated by American white chauvinism.
