I finally picked up the beautiful Nausicaa Of The Valley Of The Wind hardback boxset,it contains the complete manga spread over 2 massive hardback volumes,also comes with a beautiful double-sided poster,also kept inside a lovely sturdy box with amazing artwork.One of the finest stories ever told and even to this day maybe Hayao Miyazaki,s finest work,the manga started in 1982 and was not finished until 1994,most people will be familiar with the groundbreaking animated movie version of Nausicaa directed by Hayao Miyazaki which was released in 1984 and to this day is seen as a landmark piece of animation and finally put Miyazaki on the map and was the movie that was the foundation for Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata,s Studio Ghibli which is now a world wide household name,Nausicaa(anime) was produced by Studio Topcraft,who were a animation studio founded in 1972 and went bankrupt in 1985(they were also the studio who animated Thundercats),Hayao Miyazaki,Isao Takahata and Toshio Suzuki bought the company and many of the Topcraft animators went onto work for Studio Ghibli and hence Studio Ghibli was born and its first feature film would be the classic Laputa-Castle in the Sky released in 1986 and the rest as they say is history.So i,m gonna close the curtains get all cozy and begin reading the epic masterpiece known as Nausicaa.Peace and Love.
