I find Mothers Day to be a very difficult day. Its not a Shabbat, so its difficult to just dismiss it as pagan. My title of mother is contracted with . . . birth, adoption, step, and bereaved. I am a great grandma, yet I still have a grandma living . . . I do have to say, this Mothers Day was nice, knowing my Mom and Grandma loved their plant and bouquet, and my eldest daughter sent a facebook acknowledgement. The fact that I do look like an amazon in the photo, is a drawback, but a fact of life. Although Im not any shorter, I have lost a few pounds since that photo with my daughter, Dessirie. I am saddened that I havent heard from my other daughters, but considering the call and the news last year from one, I have no idea how shed outdo her disrespect of last years call. All in all, I love my kids, whether I hear from them or not. I am very blessed when I do hear from the ones I do, and I miss my children awaiting the resurrection. Mothers Day also reminds me of the promise of Abraham . . . the Ishmael situations hurt for a lifetime and for years beyond.
