I find certain articles such as this one purporting to be Scientific based yet flawed in its Skewed database and extrapolated wide-reaching claims, Offensive to say the least! My comment as a professional field experienced Biological Research Scientist on both the study findings and sensationalist reporting thereof, is this: Here is a classic example of so called science generated study conducted in Isolation of associated Factors. That is to say, 1. Populations Demographics, which by definition is: Demographics are the quantifiable statistics of a given population. Demographics are also used to identify the study of quantifiable subsets within a given population which characterize that population at a specific point in time. Demography is used widely in public opinion polling and marketing. So then, since Sweden a country of 9.64 million people in December 2013 of which around 1,921,000 (20.1%) inhabitants of Sweden were of a foreign background in 2012, has in recent times seen an ongoing influx of people from primarily Non-Cow-Milk consuming population, such that the number of Swedes born in all of Asia (including the Middle East) rose from just 1,000 in 1950 to 318,054 in 2013. Most of those immigrants came from Iraq, Iran, Lebanon and Syria, according to Statistics Sweden, and birth rates are higher in these groups than for the Ethnic Swedes. These immigrants are primarily based in the Urban areas of the 4 main Cities and some large towns. The City of Malmö with a total population on 27 April 2011, of 300,000 can serve as an example of Ethnicity demographics, whereby 41% have a foreign background. 30% of the population has been born abroad and another 11% of the population was Swedish-born with foreign-born parents. Göteborg, Swedens 2nd largest city total urban population of 498,648 for 2013, has a foreign born immigrant and Swedish-born with foreign-born parents population of 116,501 - a 22% representation, and Swedens Capital City Stockholm with approximately 1.4 million in the urban area, of which as of December 2013, there were 201,821 foreign-born persons, also shows the above trend. So back to my main point: This Milk intolerance study is not representative of a population which over thousands of years developed the ability to ingest Cows milk with all the PROVEN benefits associated, given the study was from its inception contaminated with recent immigrant Milk intolerant samples! Point 2. As to the advice on alternate sources of Calcium in this article, these vegetative sources: Kale, Oranges, Green Peas, Chickpeas, Quinoa, Seeds, Hemp, up until recent times were not accessable in Scandinavias long winters.
