I find it fascinating how folks complain about all the negative political ads, and then go to the polls, and vote based upon what the negative ads project. Were all guilty of it. Statistics prove that negative political ads generally influence our final voting decision. If they werent effective, campaigns wouldnt run them. Then folks say, theres too much influence from outside money in advertising. Some candidates get squashed by the outpouring of cash into the whole frenzied process. In some areas, Some Senate races are expected to spend as high as $40-$50 million in campaign races this year. You know whos most unwilling to make that change, or pass reforms? Thats right, Congress. The people you elect as representatives of the House, and members of the Senate. Why? Because once elected, they get huge privileges in campaigning, and with the power they have, they generally get re-elected. They dont want to turn off the flow of money to their campaigns, and they love their special lives. Then folks say, there should be term limits. Know any Congressman or woman who is willing to fire themselves after a specific time frame? Nope. And the forefathers of our country never saw it as an issue-- they expected leaders to come to Washington for a while, as part of their duty to serve the nation, and then return to their real lives-- and families-- and businesses. Nobody envisioned career politicians, who would continue to pay themselves more and more, and entitle themselves to absurd special benefits, without constraint. You and I hold the key to change. Be active, and vote for people who will best represent you-- at every level of government. Support those candidates who are committed to doing whats right for your community, your State, and this nation, and not themselves. Best of luck. We can do this.
