I find it interesting that the news media always picks up and includes a dollar figure of the cost businesses are going to incurr as part of some action by the government. Its as if businesses are going to bear the indicated costs and therefore be punished in some mystical way. In reality, businesses do not bear the burden of increased costs since the costs are passed on to the customers. Same thing with the political mumbo jumbo of raising taxes on businesses or taxing the rich. Raising taxes on businesses is just another way of hiding taxes on individual citizens that use the product the business produces because the increased taxes are passed right on through to the public. When the people finally discover, if they ever do, that every restrictive law the government creates and every penalty that is placed on business is coming out of their own pocket, maybe, just maybe, they will demand that the runaway government be reined in. But in this free money, gimme, gimme world we live in . . . who knows?
