I find it sickening how some people literally stick their head in the sand and act as if there is nothing actually going on in the world. Their deafening silence at a time of widespread human oppression clearly implies to me that they are siding with the oppressors. So to them, in their bubble, Israel, Bashar Al-Assad, America, Britain, Sisi and co are the good guys fighting terrorism. We must take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented. - Elie Wiesel They take being apolitical to another level. At the very least, we could raise awareness of the human plight and perhaps explain the need for an Islamic solution. When we see images of babies with their heads blown off with bereaved parents lamenting over the cruelty and barbarism purported to be in the name of self-defence, how does any human with common instincts not feel a need to help? A reason for this could be that their moral compass has been completely hijacked by a sedating Capitalist system which prioritises being selfish to the point where not giving a damn about others becomes a fashionable norm. Muslims have a higher responsibility of showing our fellow man what justice really is. Our history is a testimony to that as our existence is a mercy to mankind from Allah. O you who believe! Stand out firmly for justice, as witnesses to Allah, even though it be against yourselves, or your parents, or your kin, be he rich or poor, Allah is a Better Protector to both (than you). So follow not the lusts (of your hearts), lest you may avoid justice, and if you distort your witness or refuse to give it, verily, Allah is Ever Well­Acquainted with what you do.
