I find this absolutely ridiculous! After asking 3 times for the homework to be done it turned into a power struggle. But it should never get that far. If you have to ask a second time its time for discipline. Children must honour their parents. Parents should not negotiate the boundaries with their children in my opinion. Its fine to negotiate the setting of boundaries but not the pushing of boundaries. Its also ludicrous to think that a child is going to initiate doing their homework without a verbal prompt. Seriously I am fed up with children being given the power. Seems like the child has all the power in this suggested parenting approach. Im all for the old school style of parenting. A smack for disobedience/dishonour. Clear boundaries. That way the child knows exactly where they stand and when they have crossed the line. It will mean that they feel safe and secure.
