I finished reading a fascinating biography on Joan la Pucelle. Found out that she was a terrible tactician; charge forward even against heavy fortifications was her style. Yet, reading about the trial with over 40 judges all speaking over one another asking her trick theology questions renewed my admiration for her. Despite being tortured, malnourished, restrained all day, sleep deprived, she was able to defend all of their points, much to their frustration. Some of the judges were so impressed by her answers that they started to become sympathetic. Of course those judges were booted from the panel. After a long trial, the main reason they executed her was over her wearing male clothes.
