I fondly remember as a little boy going this time of year to the mall. How magical for me I thought the Santa Land with the robotic elves, bright lights, glitter and fake snow were. Now with children of my own, I would hope they too could experience that same Wow or Oh my Gosh magic of Christmas. With Halloween quickly approaching this year I knew the task at hand. The Santa we had used several years ago had not faired well in storage. A few hours behind the sewing machine and he was sporting a brand new head to toe three piece suit. With a little encouragement from our 5 year old and my own taste for a challenge, creating a Mrs. Claus from scratch was next. A little wood, foam, duct tape, a repainted Halloween mask, wire, pool noddles, a white wig and a few more hours at the sewing machine and Mrs Claus was ready for her reveal. Now that same 5 year old who thinks daddy can do anything suggested that we needed a few elves to help. Four cheap plastic dolls, more foam, fur and yes a few late nights behind the sewing machine and four chubby elves were ready for St Johns Ave. But wait - wouldnt it be cool if I could make them move! Oh Yes -We have elves swinging and hanging ornaments and others tangled in ribbon to brighten your visit. Was all the time and effort worth it?..Absolutely!! To see my kids light up and their smiles when they saw our store windows - it was worth every bit and more. So humor me. Our store Christmas windows are for my children, your kids and your grandchildren. The magic of Christmas is for them. Please stop by and bring them to see our windows, you may just experience a little magic yourself through their eyes! Merry Christmas!
