I for one appreciate the sirens, from a responders point of view, because of the cant miss whistle. Not being a paid department, where we all sleep in the same building as we are dispatched, or right beside the radio for our 24 hour shifts..... All 26 of us are called on at any time of day, night, week month, always on call, always on duty.. Yes we have pagers, and yes we even have a phone app that texts us... But there are those times when we appreciate the whistle because those devices and radio are not readily available.. We need all forms of page we can, we take showers, and our batteries die, and we sleep, and mow the yard, and go to school plays, and church.. At any given time, half of our department may be out of town, to a playoff game maybe, and I for one, want to make damn sure that the ones that are left in town, no matter what they are doing or where they are at, hear that call in any way possible... Those sirens, whether you realize it or not, are a VITAL part of our response to protecting this community. In closing I want to thank the community for all of your support for us, and would like to say how proud we are to live in a town that only others can dream of... -Firefighter #204, Canadian VFD And as Forrest Gump said... ...thats all I have to say about that...
