I forget who, but many years ago, a comedian joked that Burt Reynolds has made so many bad movies that, when somebody else made a bad movie, Burt got a royalty. Indeed. But somewhere amidst the endless stream of terrible films that he churned out while at the height of his 70s stardom, Reynolds starred in this great, quirky, country-music-themed little gem, which I loved when it was originally released and love even more now. For some odd reason (music rights maybe?), it has apparently never been released in any home-video format, and Im the only who seems to remember it. This has sometimes caused me to suspect that I hallucinated the whole film, its dream cast and its cheerfully loopy collision of genres. As long as it stays up on Youtube, I now have concrete proof that I was not making this movie up, and that its as wonderful as I remember it being.
