I found Watcher!! She is unhurt though she is quite cheesed off that I did not find her until this morning. I really had a hard time believing she left my fenced property. If any of my dogs wanted to, they could get through some parts of the fence...on 5 acres, there is always some spot that is sagging or loose...but she has NEVER even tried to leave her home or pack. I was quite worried she had an accident in the woods and was too injured to make it home- my first saluki died in a freak accident while playing with the other dogs and the last sight of Watcher was of her playing tag in the woods with one of my Chinooks. I was up at the crack of dawn searching the property with the dogs- it is a heavily wooded 5 acres so I searched as well as I could but was heading back to the house to call reinforcements and gather posters for friends/volunteers to hand out. I saw some movement out of the corner of my eye and it was Watcher frantically scratching at the window of one of the sheds/outbuildings left by the previous tenant. This shed was almost always closed up so I do not know how she got in or became stuck but I had to shove the door open and Watcher was up on a high shelf and actually sprung over my head out the door. She really tore apart the shed but never made a peep to let us know where she was. She is not a loud dog and almost never whines or cries, very rarely barks and usually only makes noise when she is making ugly faces at the disgusting puppy Chinooks that sometimes occupy our house. Even when frantic at being stuck, she kept to her quiet nature and did not give out a single bark or howl. My Chinooks would have raised the dead with noise if they ever became trapped! I will search her over later as she very well may have torn some nails or acquired some splinters trying to escape but for now she is curled up asleep on a dog bed in the living room. After the initial happiness at seeing me, she has been giving me the cold shoulder- she thinks there was no excuse for leaving her out there all night.
