I found a Magnolia Warbler today, 29 September, at the small pond at the headquarters of Chico Basin Ranch (fee) in Pueblo County. Other birds seen were the migrants, Western Bluebird, Ash-throated Flycatcher, Cassins Kingbird, Chestnut-collared and McCowns longspurs, Hammonds Flycatcher, Mountain Chickadee (uncommon here) along with residents like Brown Towhee, Curve-billed Thrashers, Ladder-backed Woodpeckers, and more common or regular migrants like Red-naped Sapsuckers, Sage Thrasher, Green-tailed Towhees, and Townsends Solitaire. The three biologists from the City of Boulder Open Space, Heather, Christian, and Will, were also in on the exploration of Chicos many habitats.
