I found a bunch of old notes/stories/future plans from my 2nd edition Forgotten Realms campaign that I had years ago. Seems I diverged farther from canon than I even remembered (in the form of noteworthy NPCs, sociopolitical details, completed quests, etc). In what ways does your Forgotten Realms differ from the official version? A couple of examples I rediscovered: The Dalelands are now part of the Drow Empire, which established after conquering Myth Drannor following its liberation from evil by a group of PCs. Oops. Shadowdale remains a free city by treaty. The empire includes Zhentil Keep, as the Drow used the aftermath of ZKS destruction as the moment to strike. They are currently being held at bay at Shadow Gap and the River Ashaba. The eastern shore of the Dragon Reach is still free. At the same time that the Drow were subjugating the Dalelands, a force from the True World (led by my PC at the time) came through a portal and took Citadel Raven. Having a treaty with the Drow, his forces swept north through the Wild Ride into Vaasa and Damara and down into Impiltur and the Great Dale. Following the signing of secret treaties with Algarond and Rashemen, forces were sent in to assassinate/destroy the 8 Zulkirs of Thay. A portal has been opened to allow the Rakasta from Mystara to come through and escape the curse of the savage baronies (I had a Rakasta character that got transported to the Realms and went on an epic adventure to try and return to his homeland), settling in the area around the Easting Reach initially. They are bringing smelted red steel with them. From there, it looks like plans were laid to push around the north to the Great Wastes, and possibly continue south into the Shaar. This was a preemptive strike/show of force to prevent any attempted invasion of the lands north of Maztica. I realize that those forces came from the Sword Coast, but still. Portals have been opened to allow people/goods/technologies to pass back and forth between the True World and the Heartlands of the Realms. My PC murdered Mask and took the mantle of Lord of Shadows (which I had forgotten about! Lol). Raven and Coyote are now powers in the Realms. Looks like I was planning on introducing the animal people into the mix also. I even found notes for the two unused continents of Toril! My plan now is to take my current FR campaign and meld it with my old one. Should be exciting :)
