I found this nice Smoky Quartz at the bottom of an Amethyst - TopicsExpress

I found this nice Smoky Quartz at the bottom of an Amethyst scepter pocket a few years ago in Harts Range (Australia), quite an unusual formation for the area. Most of the amethyst pockets form in the amphibolite rocks however rare pockets in the gneiss will also produce scepter crystals and sometimes these wedge-shaped smoky quartz crystals, often at the base of the pockets. I love all the well-defined horizontal striations on this piece. Smoky Quartz Entia Valley Harts Range, NT, Australia 90mm x 75mm
