I found this post on Councillor Wilburs Facebook page. City Council on Monday moved forward with the recommendations from the Residential Development Committee. This was a group made up of council, staff, developers, Chamber of Commerce, and residents. They met over the summer and fall and put forward recommendations to address issues, such as suites in residential areas, parking, etc. I would really like to thank everyone for their participation and support to try and guide the future development of the city. I found this article interesting as even when you have by laws to try and ensure you move in a positive direction you still have people ignore them and just add illegal suites and ignore the parking by laws. The cities and or neighbours then have to deal with the results such as snow removal, garbage, or emergency vehicle access. The more you are directly involved in the city, the more I appreciate the complexities. The City of Calgary with a million people are dealing with issues similar to what we are trying to deal with, it isnt easy. And a big Thank You again to the folks who sat on the committee for the city, Tom Gannon, Sylvia Hartnell, Rudy Van Spronson, Kathleen from the Chamber, Doug Scott, I shouldnt have started cause I know there were a bunch more just dont have the list with me at home:(:( Thank you so much for giving your time to help the city.
