I frequently get asked what I do for my back, so heres a snippet of my typical back shaping workout. -Wide grip pull downs (using the bar with wide handles, palms facing each other) -Close grip high to low rows -Hammer strength low rows -Cable low to mid rows (single arm) -Bent over straight arm pull downs I do 4 sets of 8-12 reps for each. I have high lat insertions so I focus on exercises that allow me to squeeze my lower lats and that target my mid/lower back. I also deadlift usually once per week. If you are training to LOOK A CERTAIN WAY, a major key when it comes to training back is focusing on pulling from and squeezing the specific muscle (or part of the muscle) that you are aiming to target. Many people think theyre training back but theyre actually training forearms and biceps. Just because you can row the weight does not mean you are hitting the area you are trying to target. Take a step back, maybe check your ego and drop down the weight a bit, slow down and really focus on squeezing the muscle.
