I frequently hear from people that governments need to work together and I agree. Today I sent a letter to our Premier and our Mayor offering my support on a number of local issues: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE January 6, 2015 MP Chisholm offers Premier and Mayor his support on various issues in Dartmouth – Cole Harbour Dartmouth - Robert Chisholm, Member of Parliament for Dartmouth - Cole Harbour, has written to Halifax Mayor Mike Savage and Premier Stephen McNeil offering his support and assistance on a number of issues affecting his riding. There is a growing list of important projects here in Dartmouth - Cole Harbour that require attention and cooperation from all levels of government,” wrote Chisholm. “I am offering you my support and whatever assistance I may be able to provide in order to move them forward.” Chisholm outlined a number of issues ranging from the former Imperial Oil refinery property to the need for better transit and his support for daylighting the Sawmill River. Chisholm also criticized the unfortunate loss of recreation facilities in Dartmouth including Shannon Park Arena. “These are significant losses that affect a lot of people,” said Chisholm, “ we need to do better.” “Whether it is my support in lobbying the federal government to contribute financially, or my partnership in bringing the community together to discuss these issues, I am at your service,” concluded Chisholm. Other issues raised by Chisholm include compact fluorescent bulb recycling, the Burnside Sackville Expressway, the weeds in Lake Banook, and the development of the former DND property known as Shannon Park.
