I get amazed at how its the PARENTS who tend to get so loud and rude at competitions such as marching contest! Are they not aware of what it teaches our children!?!? Yesterday at contest several of us chapel hill parents set among parents and friends of other schools. Most of which either said nothing if a mistake was made or clapped for the other bands... As did we from chapel hill.... Except one school! Sorry.. But Im naming names LINDALE! I heard several parents very proudly from Lindale openly negatively commenting on every band other then theirs! Not a little... But a lot! One father even attempted to get into a vocal argument with Roy about size of Lindale vrs Whitehouse band! (Roy refused to go there with the guy!)... But did the few extra students in a band really matter!?!?! Good grief!! Really!?? This was not an isolated incident sadly! When we travel to Lindale with the band for out of town games.. Our band would be accosted by people in cars NOT ALL TEENAGERS... Screaming profanities and shooting the bird at our band! Yet I saw a few of our band simply say in return we will pray for you as windows got raised and the people ignored! Yet when Lindale comes to Chapel Hill we try very hard to accommodate them and offer things to make it easier for the band! Again what is this teaching the kids!?!? Come on Lindale parents GROW UP.. Show the kids the example of REAL sportsmanship behavior!
