I get asked many times, should I decide to take on a few feral cats, whats the process and how do I make certain they stay .....Said with tongue in cheek ;) 1, make certain you have a dry area to feed and for the said cats to sleep, lots of fluffy blankets, you really need to be keeping them in for several weeks, so they realise that they have arrived at le feral Paradee, and no other place would come close, nag your partners to make them some wooden bunk beds, if wont take them long and these are fabulous for draping blankets inside and over to make cosy sleeping quarters. 2, Although rather tempting to feed cheap biscuits, put yourself in their paws, would you work for biscuits? No, good quality meat, they dont have to have chicken everyday, maybe just once or twice a week, just to give them a change from the usual gourmet food. Oh but biscuits should be available at all times, should they fancy a mid afternoon snack. 3, They should always have fresh water, preferably in winter, slightly warned, you hate brain freeze, so will they! 4, Winter times especially, although a simple inexpensive thermometer should tell you whether hot water bottles are needed, microwaveable, so they stay warm for at least 8 hours, nothing worse than waking up cold. 5, Stroking, usually can be done whilst feeding, although they like this, however if they catch you and swipe then put it down to your stupidity for your incorrect timings. 6, Should they start to venture into your home, welcome them, or get up earlier for their feeds, its probably down to your lateness that they decided to venture into your home to help themselves to your domesticated cats food but had you followed step 2, they will realise they are being fed just the same, equality and all that ;) 7, God forbid you should see them at the front of your property or anywhere else you deem to be an unsafe area jump out on them, frighten them with your most fearful growl and ugliest face but be sure not to get seen by your neighbour, especially the neighbour that already thinks you need sectioning ;)
