I get cold-called A LOT. Like, a lot. Id like to speak to your owner is how most sales people start a cold-call. I laugh and hang up. I mean, I dont have an owner. I AM a business owner, but I digress. This kid, Said, called me up a couple of months ago and started off the conversation in a fun self-deprecating way. It caught me off guard. Long story short, I bought a year contract with him (software). I asked him how he amped himself up for sales calls like this one, because honestly, salespeople ... you have a TOUGH job and Said was good. Im a tough sell and he got me. He said he watched Michael Jordan commercials before each call to get himself amped up. So now, even though Im a sealed deal, he sends me clips every now and then (smart guy, knows hes got to keep even happy customers engaged). He sent me one today, and I thought Id pass it along:
