I get messages, emails, etc where folks tell me thats not what my local channel is saying about the weather or thats not what TWC is saying. Let me be slightly blunt... I really have no interest in what local or nation weather outlets say about higher impact weather events. Dont get me wrong, I do follow a select number of meteorologists that I have incredible respect for, but outside of these folks, if I dont match what a local or national weather outlet is saying on a weather event, Im not going to lose sleep over it. If I focus on what others are saying because its conflicting with my forecast, Im going to become wrapped up worrying too much of what is ultimately beyond my control and lose sight on my goal, to deliver quality forecasts. The reason why youll often see me communicate weather information that your local weather channel hasnt even touched on yet is because if I see something worth mentioning or that catches my attention, I will certainly bring it to the table so that you can see exactly what Im looking at and Ill note why I think it will or wont happen and once I am more convinced it will happen, I will put an article out with my thoughts on what will happen. I try to introduce an educational side of weather along with your typical information weather. I dont have ratings Im concerned about so I usually dont hold back if something catches my attention in the long-range weather pattern. Essentially, what I see in the weather world, you will see. I told you I communicate weather information differently than many others...
