I get paid to do this?! I actually said that to Grant Gilmore earlier today!! And I thought yesterday was cool. Today, I got to meet Olympic bronze medalist Gracie Gold! And I got to hang out with some younger winners! The second and third place winners in novice girls at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships. They were so sweet and meek and mild. I believe they were in elementary school. And they came here all the way from California. They told me they train TWICE a day SIX DAYS A WEEK. They train at 6 a.m. before school and AFTER school EVERY school day! But what can I say? Meeting Gracie Gold was pretty awesome. And yes, shes shorter in person!! No, really. She was quite gracious. Heres the story: Grant saw her and asked me, Was that Gracie Gold? I simply said, Where!? He pointed to an area thats off-limits to the public. So I screamed, GRACIE? And she came back! She came through a curtain that separates Fan Fest from the practice rink and said... Yes? Thats when I nervously introduced myself and asked her if she minded taking a pic with me. And you better believe Grant and Julie Luck werent far behind. Not to mention some of my other co-workers. She agreed to an interview! And she stayed around for 10 minutes or so taking every requested picture and answering our dumb questions. The best item we learned... SHE JUGGLES RIGHT BEFORE SHE GOES OUT ON THE ICE! She says its a mind and focus thing for her and helps her focus on what she has to do. It must be working. Shes really good at the skating thing. Even better at the serving thing! God bless you. FM
