I get the weekends to myself here, so decided to introduce the helper from China, Wing Yee to camping, as she had never slept in a tent before. We got dropped off near a local forest by our awesome host Herve, and off we went with camping gear in tow. Not long after the skies opened up and it was bucketing with rain. We quickly set up camp and went for a forest walk. On the way back, I may have decided to take a scenic route(I got completely lost), and I may have completely deliberately decided to stay away from our camp a little longer than anticipated(I had no idea our camp was). Anyway, after extending our walk to enjoy some beautiful scenery(I was running around like a headless chicken, trying desperately to find my tent to no avail), we got back. With it still raining, the camp fire was out the window, so we retired to the tent, and watched Life is Beautiful - one of my favourite films. We both managed to make the most of the situation, and it may not have been a roasting some marshmallows over the campfire evening, but it was good to hang out with her and spend time in nature all the same. As I think about my departure on Thursday from this hosting, I have a feeling there is going to be a few tears shed leaving this family behind. Theyve been incredibly good to me. I have real love for them. So as I move forward, I will be hitchhiking to Munich on Thursday morning, which is about 1000km from here(Gary, youve been saying youre leaving France for ages! I actually am this time! :D) to meet a new hitchhike buddy there. We may well hitchhike to Turkey together, going through a number of different countries. I have no idea what to expect, and am really excited to see how this new chapter of my adventure will unfold.
